The Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame will host the eighth annual “Breakfast at the Gallops” on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 8 am – 10 am at the Aiken Training Track.
Sponsors for this year’s event are Folly, Mosaic Racing Stable, Larlee Construction, Suzy Haslup – Meybohm Realtors, Jane Page Thompson-Aiken Properties, The Aiken Horse, Moon Beans Fine Roasted Coffees and the Aiken Training Track. The event will be held rain or shine.
This will be an opportunity to observe juveniles who are preparing to go to the races and older campaigners, work before leaving to go to the racetrack. Local trainer trainers will be on hand to talk to participants about the various training methods used to train Aiken’s equine athletes. Those in attendance should enter the Two Notch Road entrance that is closet to Audubon Dr. Vehicles must stop for all horses.
Tickets for “Breakfast at the Gallops” are on sale now and are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Space is limited and tickets are available for purchase at the following locations: Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame, Aiken Training Track Office, Odell Weeks Center, Folly (downtown Aiken) and Meybohm Realty (downtown Aiken). Children under the age of 6 will be admitted free. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to support the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum.
The Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Hopelands Gardens at 135 Dupree Place (off Whiskey Road) and and celebrates Aiken‘s contributions to equestrian sports. The Racing Hall of Fame is open September – May, Tuesdays – Fridays from 2 – 5 pm, Saturdays from 10 am – 5 pm and Sundays from 2 – 5 pm and June – August, Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday from 2 – 5 pm, weather permitting.
