UPDATE FROM COT CAMPBELL, PRESIDENT OF DOGWOOD STABLE
Palace Malice is being freshened at this point. He moved to Todd Pletcher’s Saratoga barn on Tuesday, after working a very easy half-mile in :50 4/5 at Belmont Park.
Tentatively, he has four races scheduled for the remainder of 2014. They are: the Whitney Invitational on August 2 at Saratoga; the Woodward on at Saratoga; the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont; and finally the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita.
He has raced four times this year. He is undefeated and seems to be hankering for more. However, after his June 7 Metropolitan Mile victory, we thought it was in his best interest to skip the Suburban on July 5 at Belmont and give him an eight-week breather before the summer – fall campaign. He will have five more works at Saratoga before the Whitney.
We are flattered with the keen interest of breeding farms in his stallion potential. In late summer or early fall, after the progression of his campaign, we will zero in on his long range plans.
Palace Malice earnings are now $2,631,133.
